It was reranked as the order Acariformes by Dunlop et al. (2013) and Garwood and Dunlop (2014).

It was assigned to Acari by Arillo et al. (2009) and Dunlop et al. (2013); and to Poecilophysidea by Garwood and Dunlop (2014).
