Diploblastus was named by Fay (1961) [Sepkoski's age data: C Vise-u C Serp-l Sepkoski's reference number: 904].

It was assigned to Diploblastidae by Waters and Horowitz (1993); to Spiraculata by Sepkoski (2002); and to Troosticrinidae by Bauer et al. (2017).
