Poroblastus was named by Fay (1961) [Sepkoski's age data: C Tour-l C Vise Sepkoski's reference number: 2]. It is not extant.

It was assigned to Granatocrinidae by Beaver et al. (1967) and Waters and Horowitz (1993); and to Spiraculata by Sepkoski (2002).
