Taxonomy
Cardioceras kitchini was named by Salfeld (1915). Its type specimen is BMNH 13312, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Amoeboceras (Amoebites) kitchini by Mesezhnikov (1984) and Schlegelmilch (1994).
