Taxonomy
Charltonithyris retrusus was named by Smirnova (1975). Its type specimen is MSU No. 139/83, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Novoye, Moskovskaya Oblast, which is in a Berriasian marine horizon in the Russian Federation.
