Glyptorthis costellata was named by Cooper (1956) [= Glyptorthis cf. bellarugosa Schuchert & Cooper 1932. Mem. Peabody Mus. Nat. Hist., vol. 4, pt. 1, pl. 6, fig. 12.]. Its type specimen is USNM 110052a, a valve, and it is a 3D body fossil.
