Taxonomy
Glyptorthis obesa was named by Cooper (1956). Its type specimen is USNM 110068d, a valve (pedicle valve), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 2 to 3 miles northeast of Springer, which is in a Blackriveran marine sandstone/shale in the Bromide Formation of Oklahoma.
