Williams 1962 | Diagnosis.--Leptaena with a concavo-convex, subquadrate disc, on an average almost 9 mm. long and just under two-thirds as long as wide, defined by a sharply geniculate zone the antero-median portion of which is broadly sulcate dorsally; radial ornamentation consisting of unequally thickened and cancellated costellae, commonly spaced at 6 per millimetre antero-medianly, 10-12 strong and continuously concentric rugae corrugate the disc; teeth strong with short, obscure dental lamellae, ventral muscle-scar longer than wide and oval, contained by a low boundary of secondary shell deposit except anteriorly; cardinal process lobes parallel-sided, divergent, sockets small with their plates embedded in a prominent bar of secondary shell substance which is continuous with a short median ridge to form an anchor-shaped structure embracing a pair of muscle impressions antero-laterally. |
