Phyllocladus lobatus was named by Hill (1989). It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is LRR1-1649, a cuticle. Its type locality is Little Rapid River 2, which is in an Oligocene lacustrine mudstone/sandstone in Australia.

| R. S. Hill 1989 | Size of phylloclades unknown, but more than 25 mm long. Phylloclades deeply lobed, lobes 1-20 mm long, up to 4mm wide, possibly secondary lobes developing; main axis with a very prominent, thickened midrib, other veins inconspicuous. Phylloclades amphistomatic, with stomata denser on the lower epidermis and arranged in more or less regular longitudinal rows. Florin ring with an unlobed ridge, surrounded by a deep peripheral groove with steep walls. Outer surface of cuticle between Florin rings smooth. Cuticle covering subsidiary and epidermal cells smooth. |
