Taxonomy
Hesperaletes walshi was named by Colbert (2006). Its type specimen is SDSNH 38617, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Azuaga II Site 1 (SDSNH loc. 3410), which is in an Uintan terrestrial sandstone in the Stadium Formation of California.
