Taxonomy

Diadectes sideropelicus was named by Cope (1878). It is not extant. Its type specimen is AMNH 4360, a mandible. Its type locality is Mount Barry, 12 (Admiral Formation), which is in an Artinskian terrestrial shale in the Admiral Formation of Texas.

Synonyms

Empedias fissus was named by Cope (1883). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Godwin Creek, 14 (Admiral Formation), which is in an Artinskian terrestrial shale in the Admiral Formation of Texas.

It was recombined as Diadectes fissus by Hay (1902), Hay (1930) and Carroll et al. (1972); it was synonymized subjectively with Diadectes sideropelicus by Kissel (2010).
Helodectes isaaci was named by Cope (1880). It is not extant. Its type locality is Military Trail, 32 (Waggoner Ranch Formation), which is in an Artinskian/Kungurian terrestrial limestone/claystone in the Waggoner Ranch Formation of Texas.

It was synonymized subjectively with Diadectes sideropelicus by Kissel (2010).
Helodectes paridens was named by Cope (1880). It is not extant. Its type locality is Military Trail, 32 (Waggoner Ranch Formation), which is in an Artinskian/Kungurian terrestrial limestone/claystone in the Waggoner Ranch Formation of Texas. It is the type species of Helodectes.

It was synonymized subjectively with Diadectes sideropelicus by Kissel (2010).
Diadectes biculminatus was named by Cope (1896). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Mount Barry, 12 (Admiral Formation), which is in an Artinskian terrestrial shale in the Admiral Formation of Texas.

It was synonymized subjectively with Diadectes sideropelicus by Kissel (2010).
Diadectes latibuccatus was named by Cope (1878). It is not extant. Its type locality is Shell Point, 6 (Putnam Formation), which is in a Sakmarian terrestrial claystone/shale in the Putnam Formation of Texas.

Diadectes phaseolinus was named by Cope (1880). It is not extant. Its type locality is North Fork of the Little Wichita, 8, which is in a Sakmarian/Artinskian terrestrial claystone in Texas.
