Taxonomy
Colospongia mennulensis was named by Senowbari-Daryan and Schaefer (1986). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cozzo di Lupo reef, Sicily, Italy, which is in a Sevatian reef, buildup or bioherm reef rocks in the Panormide Formation of Italy.
