Taxonomy
Agoniatites (Agoniatites) praeceps was named by Chlupac and Turek (1983). Its type specimen is CM L7907, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Praha-Hlubocepy (upper Trebotov limestone, Dalejan), which is in an Emsian carbonate limestone in the Trebotov Formation of Czechia.

It was recombined as Chlupacites praeceps by Korn and Klug (2002), Klug (2002).
