Nautilus felix was named by Chapman (1915) [TYPE LOCALITY: Happy Valley, South Australia]. It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Happy Valley (Dennant collection), which is in a Bartonian carbonate marl in Australia.
It was recombined as Eutrephoceras felix by Kummel (1956); it was recombined as Cimomia felix by McGowran (1959), Cockbain (1968).
