Todea amissa

Taxonomy
Todea amissa was named by Carvalho et al. (2013). It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is MPEF-Pb 5700 , a leaf (sterile and fertile pinnae), and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Tufolitas Laguna del Hunco, which is in an Eocene crater lake tuff in Argentina.

M. R. Carvalho et al. 2013Detached pinnate to pinnatisect-pinnatifid frond pinnae. Pinna costa grooved and slightly curved, bearing alternate pinnules attached at (sub)acute angles. Pinnules oblongfalcate, with serrate margin, cuneate apex, and completely attached base in sterile pinnules, or slightly rounded base in fertile pinnules. Pinnule venation catadromous, arising oppositely to suboppositely from the midrib, forking in close proximity to the pinnule midrib, with each branch terminating in a tooth apex. Fertile and sterile pinnae nearly monomorphic. Fertile pinnules slightly narrower and restricted to the basal portions of the pinnae. Distribution of sporangia acrostichoid. Sporangia borne along secondary veins, covering the basal portion to the full lamina of each fertile pinnule.
