Apsidocrinus was named by Jaekel (1907) [Sepkoski's age data: J Tith K Nc.] [In his Genus Compendium, Sepkoski mis-spelled as "Aspidocrinus" instead of correct Apsidocrinus Jaekel 1907 (p. 304). Aspidocrinus Hall 1858 is a form taxon for a Devonian crinoid holdfast.]. Its type is Aspidocrinus scutelliformis.
It was assigned to Cyrtocrinida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Phyllocrinidae by Pisera and Dzik (1979), Hess and Messing (2011).
