Taxonomy
Proholopus was named by Jaekel (1908) [Sepkoski's age data: J Tith K Barr-l]. It is not extant. Its type is Eugeniacrinus holopiformis. It is the type genus of Proholopodidae.

It was assigned to Sclerocrinidae by Rasmussen (1961); to Cyrtocrinida by Sepkoski (2002); and to Proholopodidae by Hess and Messing (2011), Zamora and López-Horgue (2022).
