Taxonomy
Palaeobalistum rectidens was named by Thurmond (1974). Its type specimen is SMUSMP 62105, a partial skull (vomer), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Lewis, which is in an Albian terrestrial claystone in the Paluxy Formation of Texas.
