Cricetodon incertum was named by Schlosser (1884). Its type specimen is BSPG 1879 XV 171a, a mandible (left dentary bearing m2-m3), and it is a 3D body fossil.
It was recombined as Pseudocricetodon incertus by Vianey-Liaud et al. (2014).
