Retistephanoporites crassiexinatus was named by Jaramillo and Dilcher (2001) [Type locality: Piñalerita Creek near Sabanalarga.
]. It is not extant. It is considered to be a form taxon. Its type specimen is UFP 37, 5.2 x 85.6, a microspore (pollen grain). Its type locality is Pinalerita UFP 37, Llanos foothills, Colombia, which is in an Eocene fluvial-deltaic sandstone/siliciclastic in the Areniscas de el Limbo Formation of Colombia.
