Taxonomy
Analytoceratidae was named by Spath (1927). Its type is Analytoceras.

It was synonymized subjectively with Pleuroacanthitidae by Meister and Friebe (2003); it was reranked as the subfamily Analytoceratinae by Hoffmann and Keupp (2010).

It was assigned to Lytocerataceae by Wiedmann (1970); to Lytoceratoidea by Sarih et al. (2007); and to Lytoceratidae by Hoffmann and Keupp (2010).
