Cincinnetina multisecta
Taxonomy
Orthis multisecta was named by James (1871). Its type specimen is FMNH UC1099, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. It is the type species of Cincinnetina.
It was recombined as Onniella multisecta by Hall (1962); it was recombined as Dalmanella multisecta by Walker (1982); it was recombined as Cincinnetina multisecta by Jin (2012).

Jin 2012 | Shell commonly medium sized, rarely large, transversely subelliptical, planoconvex to ventribiconvex with weakly convex, strongly sulcate dorsal valve, and correspondingly carinate ventral valve. Fascicostellate; growth lines sharp, dense, forming reticulate pits between ribs. Cardinal process commonly hypotrilobate, with moderately developed medial lobe on myophore. Coarse and fine punctae distinctly differentiated; aditicules present but sparse. |
