Taxonomy
Membranipora magnilabris was named by Busk (1854). It is extant. It is the type species of Steginoporella.

It was recombined as Steginoporella neozelanica magnifica by Harmer (1900); it was recombined as Steginoporella magnilabris by Canu and Bassler (1929), Viera et al. (2016).
