Taxonomy
Ptychogaster (Temnoclemmys) bardenensis was named by Murelaga et al. (1999). It is not extant. Its type specimen is BT3-21, a set of postcrania (Right epiplastron). Its type locality is Bardenas Reales Barranco de Tudela 3 (BT3), which is in an Aquitanian/Burdigalian mire/swamp marl in the Tudela Formation of Spain.
