Taxonomy
Praetragulus electus was named by Vislobokova (1998). Its type specimen is PIN 3110/731, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Khoer Dzan slope, which is in an Eocene terrestrial gravel in the Ergilin Dzo Formation of Mongolia.
