Taxonomy
Gomphos ellae was named by Kraatz et al. (2009). Its type specimen is MPC 30/1, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Tsagaan Khutel, which is in an Eocene terrestrial sandstone in the Kholboldchi Formation of Mongolia.
