Aksyiromys was named by Shevyreva (1984). Its type is Aksyiromys dalos.
It was assigned to Raricricetodontinae by Tong (1997); to Zapodidae by Emry et al. (1998); and to Dipodoidea by Gomes Rodrigues et al. (2010).
