Taxonomy
Hyrachyus crista was named by Qi (1987). Its type specimen is IVPP V5722, a maxilla, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Bayan Ulan (Arshanto), which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in the Arshanto Formation of China.
