Taxonomy
Yimengia yani was named by Wang (1988). Its type specimen is IVPP V7392, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is 1 km northeast of Laiwu railway station, which is in an Eocene terrestrial horizon in the Guanzhuang Formation of China.
