Taxonomy
Eucricetodon occasionalis was named by Lopatin (1996). Its type specimen is PIN RAN, no. 4516-196, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Altynshokysu (bone bed IV), which is in an Oligocene terrestrial claystone in the Aral Formation of Kazakhstan.
