Syops vanhoepeni
Taxonomy
Dicynodon vanhoepeni was named by Boonstra (1938). Its type specimen is SAM-PK-11311, a partial skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Drysdall & Kitching locality 4, Upper Luangwa Valley, which is in a Wuchiapingian terrestrial mudstone in the Madumabisa Mudstone Formation of Zambia.
It was synonymized subjectively with Oudenodon luangwanensis by Brink (1986); it was recombined as Syops vanhoepeni by Kammerer et al. (2011).
