Phasianus mioceanus
Taxonomy
Phasianus mioceanus was named by Shufeldt (1915). Its type specimen is YPM 908, a limb element (humerus), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Chimney Rock (Arikaree), which is in an Arikareean terrestrial horizon in Nebraska.
It was recombined as Archaeophasianus mioceanus by Lambrecht (1933), Wetmore (1940), Wetmore (1956).
