Taxonomy

Microtus miguelensis was named by Guthrie (1998). Its type specimen is SBMNH 191, a mandible (jaw fragment with M/1), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is San Miguel Island V-10, which is in a Pleistocene eolian horizon in California.
