Taxonomy
Draconomys verai was named by Vucetich et al. (2010). Its type specimen is MPEF-PV 7506, a mandible (right mandibular fragment with part of incisor and p4-m3), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is La Cantera, which is in a Rupelian terrestrial horizon in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Draconomys.
