Zoila dolichorhyncha
Taxonomy
Zoila dolichorhyncha was named by Darragh (2011). Its type specimen is P14514, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is PL 3028 - Cliff between Fossil & 1.5 km northwest towards Table Cape, which is in a Miocene marine sandstone in the Freestone Cove Sandstone Formation of Australia.

T. A. Darragh 2011 | Shell of large size for genus, solid, pyriform, somewhat humped posteriorly and tapering anteriorly, of six teleoconch whorls. Spire projecting slightly, almost enveloped by last whorl, covered with thick callus. Protoconch of one smooth whorl, not differentiated from teleoconch whorls, coiled with the axis of the shell. Posterior canal short, deeply incised, reflexed to left. Anterior canal deeply incised, with rounded sides, reflexed dorsally, supported laterally by short, narrow flanges. Aperture sinuous, slightly widened and sloping steeply inwards before anterior canal; outer lip with 23–33 teeth extending along entire lip, on some specimens becoming very weak posteriorly; inner lip with 3–11 teeth (generally fewer than 10) present on anterior third of lip. Fossula well developed, broad, relatively deeply depressed, bounded anteriorly by weak terminal ridge. |
