Taxonomy
Proplatyarthrus longipes was named by Ameghino (1905). It is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Puesto Almendra, Gran Barranca, Chubut, which is in an Oligocene terrestrial horizon in Argentina. It is the type species of Proplatyarthrus.
