Taxonomy
Brachyodus fraasi was named by Schmidt (1913) [Lectotype (design. Black 1978): Skull with left P1-P3, Nr M 10 186]. It is the type species of Bothriogenys.

It was recombined as Bothriogenys fraasi by Black (1978), Ducrocq et al. (2015).
