Taxonomy
Ancodon gorringei was named by Andrews and Beadnell (1902). Its type specimen is CGM 8629, a mandible, and it is a 3D body fossil.

It was recombined as Bothriogenys gorringei by Black (1978), Ducrocq et al. (2015).
