Taxonomy
Puffinus holei was named by Walker et al. (1990). Its type specimen is BMNH A5861, a skull, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Jandia Peninsula, Fuerteventura, which is in a Pleistocene eolian sandstone in Spain.
It was corrected as Puffinus holeae by Sangster et al. (2002), Mlikovsky (2002), Rando and Alcover (2010).
