Taxonomy
Leucokephalos zeffiae was named by Vucetich et al. (2015). Its type specimen is MPEF-PV 583, a mandible (right mandibular fragment with p4-m2 and broken incisor), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Cabeza Blanca, which is in a Deseadan terrestrial shale/claystone in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Leucokephalos.
