Lyncina cingulata

Lyncina cingulata was named by Dolin and Lozouet (2004) [1923 Cypraea (Cavicypraea) subovum sensu Cossmann & Peyrot [non d'Orbigny, 1852] :part. 289-291. 1924 Cypraea (Cavicypraea) subovum sensu Cossmann & Peyrot [non d'Orbigny, 1852]- Cossmann & Peyrot: part. pi. 10, fig. 35.]. Its type specimen is MNHN-Malacologie, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Uzeste (Gamachot), Villandraut, Berdigots, which is in a Burdigalian coastal sandstone in the Falun de Bazas Formation of France.

L. Dolin and P. Lozouet 2004La coquille, solide sans etre aussi calleuse que ses congeneres, de grande taille, est oliviforme, fuselee, a galbe regulierement profile. La sole ventrale est legerement mais n'gulierement convexe. La spire est nettement saillante. Louverture, antfrieurement epanouie, est presque rectiligne, legerement arquee en son quart adapical. Le canal siphonal est etroit et profond, formant un pontet court mais net, bien degage et legerement margine dorsalement, faiblement decroche par rapport a la sole ventrale. I:angulation, sans etre abattue, est legerement arrondie. Le pli terminal, long, epais et legerement La lame interne qui le prolonge est longue et mince, terminee en goutte d' eau. La fossula, en cuilleron mais tres legerement concave, porte 5 denticules irreguliers, grossierement disposes, funicules ; I' aire columellaire, arrondie, est pratiquement lisse. La levre interne porte 19 denticules irreguliers, de plus en plus petits et tuberculiformes pour les 10/ 11 premiers, les denticules parietaux, allonges et maigres, a yam ten dance a cbevaucher I' angulation. Le canal exhalant, profond, est largement ouvert adapicalement ; il forme un court pontet, acumine. La levre externe, aplanie en son milieu, carenee a ses exrremires, est affaissee adaxialement en son tiers anterieur ; elle porte 27 denticules, courts et puissants en son tiers median, lamelleux, resserrfs en allant vers les extrfmitfs.
