Platypittamys brachyodon
Taxonomy
Platypittamys brachyodon was named by Wood (1949). Its type specimen is AMNH 29600, a skeleton (skeleton with skull, jaws, and most of the other bones, badly compressed. The skull is dorsoventrally flattened.), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Crater Lake Beds - Scarritt Pocket, which is in a Chattian crater lake conglomerate/sandstone in the Sarmiento Formation of Argentina. It is the type species of Platypittamys.
