Microbiotherium praecursor
Taxonomy
Proteodidelphys praecursor was named by Ameghino (1898). Its type specimen is MACN 10799, a mandible (right mandible with alveoli of i1-2 and i3-m4 complete (more teeth present originally but since lost)), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Proteodidelphys Fauna, which is in a Miocene terrestrial horizon in Argentina.
It was recombined as Microbiotherium praecursor by Marshall (1982).
