Cypraea chevallieri was named by Cossman (1896).

It was recombined as Proadusta chevallieri by Dolin and Ledon (2002); it was recombined as Subepona chevallieri by Dolin and Pacaud (2009); it was recombined as Eopustularia chevallieri by Fehse (2010).
