Eccliseogyra was named by Dall (1892) [Sepkoski's age data: K Camp-u Sepkoski's reference number: 976].

It was corrected as Ecclesiogyra by Vaught et al. (1989).

It was assigned to Nystiellinae by Vaught et al. (1989); and to Neotaenioglossa by Sepkoski (2002).
