Montcellia longidentata
Taxonomy
Sauropleura longidentata was named by Moodie (1909). Its type specimen is AMNH 8619 G, a skull, and it is a compression fossil. Its type locality is Montceau-les-Mines, Saone et Loire, which is in a Stephanian B/Stephanian C terrestrial horizon in France. It is the type species of Montcellia.
It was recombined as Montcellia longidentata by Dutuit and Heyler (1994); it was synonymized objectively with Colosteus crassiscutatus by Clack and Milner (2015).
