Taxonomy
Subepona promeces was named by Pacaud and Ledon (2012). Its type specimen is MNHN.F.R63100, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Blaye, ancienne carrière de l’Octroi (Gironde)., which is in a Bartonian marine horizon in the Calcaire d'Octroi Formation of France.
