Taxonomy
Allaeochelys parayrei was named by Noulet (1867). Its type specimen is MHNT specimen, a partial shell (carapace and partial plastron), and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Castrais, which is in a Bartonian terrestrial horizon in France.

Synonyms
  • Castresia munieri was named by De Stefano (1902). It is extant. Its type specimen is lost, a carapace. Its type locality is Castrais, which is in a Bartonian terrestrial horizon in France. It is the type species of Castresia.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Allaeochelys parayrei by Joyce (2014).
  • Allaeochelys nouleti was named by Bergounioux (1931). It is extant. Its type specimen is lost, a carapace (A carapace missing most peripherals and the pygal, formerly housed at the Muséum d’Histoire Naturelle de Toulouse, Toulouse, France). Its type locality is La Badayre, which is in a Bartonian terrestrial horizon in the Castrais Formation of France.

    It was synonymized subjectively with Allaeochelys parayrei by Joyce (2014).
