Taxonomy
Clemmys laurenti was named by Bergounioux (1934). Its type specimen is MHNM 1982-826 and is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Saint-Henri, which is in a Chattian terrestrial claystone in France.
It was recombined as Palaeochelys laurenti by Broin (1977); it was recombined as Provencemys laurenti by Hervet (2004).
