Schilderia lauriatae was named by Dolin and Lozouet (2004) [http://coldb.mnhn.fr/catalognumber/mnhn/im/2000-3737]. Its type specimen is MNHN-IM-2000-3737, a shell, and it is a 3D body fossil. Its type locality is Brigné (Beugnon), which is in a Messinian coastal sandstone in the falun calcaire biodetritique blanc Formation of France.
